Event Design

This session offers practical insights from a year of industry research on designing events that foster a true sense of belonging. By focusing on five core principles, attendees will learn how to create inclusive, engaging, and meaningful experiences that ensure all participants feel they belong. These five key principles are: * Architecting Choice: Provide diverse content and formats to meet different preferences, helping attendees find their place. * Exploring Identities: Design experiences that encourage connection and community-building around personal identities. *Emotional Data: Use innovative tools to measure and enhance feelings of belonging throughout the event. *Power of Play: Foster collaboration, co-creation, and creative expression to nurture growth and connection. *Value of Values: Assessing impact for audience acquisition and retention when diverse interest groups feel seen, heard, and valued. A strong sense of belonging allows attendees to feel understood, accepted, and authentic. This leads to deeper engagement and strengthens their connection to the event and its community. Belonging-centered design, an evolution of human-centered design, benefits all stakeholders and is becoming increasingly recognized by leadership for both its human and business impact. Join this interactive workshop with Storycraft Lab, authors of The Belonging Playbook and the Marriott Toolkit for Designing for Belonging.
