The Macau Fair & Trade Association (MFTA) is a non-profit organisation established in early 2001, consisting of members from the MICEindustry and related service industries including advertising, education, retailing, financial services, hospitality, catering, multimedia production, and information technology.
The MFTA actively organises and runs various events, conventions and exhibitions. We have been promoting “regional co-operation and exchange”, “MICE talent cultivation” and “green MICE” in areas of the economy, society, and environment, with a view tofacilitating the sound and sustainable development of Macao’s MICE industry. The MFTA foundedthe “Green Booth Award and Green Electricity Fee Rebate” Campaign in 2010, encouraging exhibitors and contractors to reduce waste at source in booth construction. In addition, in 2014, the MFTA started to promote MICE carbon offsets to our members to offset carbon emissions arising from MICE events through the purchase of carbon credits. For more accurate calculation of the carbon emissions by all relevant parties in MICE events, the MFTA launched a MICE carbon footprint calculator, which provides guidance and assistance to the organisers, exhibitors, contractors, venues, and visitors in adopting practical measures during MICE eventsto reduce carbon emissions. We sincerely hope that the MICE carbon footprint calculator can help the people involved in MICEand trade industries adopt and implement mitigation measures, in an attempt to reduce carbon emissions and establish a low-carbon and green MICE industry.
