The Budapest Convention Bureau (BUDCB), the central player in the MICE ecosystem, operates under the umbrella of the Hungarian Tourism Agency and provides professional support with venues, event options, industry players, and service providers. BUDCB aims to connect the local meetings industry with global markets, highlighting long-term trends and providing relevant insights and data. Below, we introduce a few conference hubs and some interesting developments. The Budapest Convention Bureau (BUDCB) assists organizers by providing help with venue selection, logistics, and local service connections, ensuring a smooth and successful event. This initiative is part of Budapest's broader strategy to enhance its position as a global MICE destination and attract more international business events to the city.
The fully refurbished Hungexpo Budapest Congress and Exhibition Centre including a brand new congress centre is the perfect venue to host international conferences, congresses and other large-scale corporate and association events. Our capabilities in event management are unparalleled with the massive scale of flexible spaces combined with the full scope of high quality services – from AV and IT to catering, security, furniture supply and exhibition services and our pro team of event experts.
Across the 36-hectare landscaped area of HUNGEXPO there are 3 entry halls, 1 new congress centre, 7 expo/event halls, offices, warehouses, a new built kitchen and 6 parking spaces. The site can be entered through seven gates/entrances. In case of parallel events, the area can be well sectioned, providing fully separate access and transport paths for the various events.
In size, complexity and service level the brand new Congress Centre is Hungary’s premier, high-capacity conference centre. The building offers a total of 15 000 m2 event space on 3 levels. Escalators and elevators provide convenient guest flow between floors. Car-size freight elevators help event logistics. The Congress Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology. On arrival guests are welcomed in the 1 000 m2 spacious reception hall surrounded by glass walls with visitor registration and a cloakroom. There is a 2 500 m2 exhibition area with 10 meters internal height on one side of the reception hall which can be divided into 3 section rooms, up to 6-700 pax theatre style, each. On the other side of the hall there are a total of 6 rooms for 200 people each and can be connected to 400 and 600 people rooms. In addition, 4 rooms for 100 people are located here, all section rooms with built-in AV technology. The space in front of the meeting rooms is 1 100 square meters and it is ideal for coffee breaks, popup exhibitions, e-poster sections.
The atrium level has 16 rooms, 50 pax each, located on 1 200 square meters. These rooms can be connected by mobile walls creating 100 to 150 pax rooms for different events. In front of the rooms a 7 meter wide, 800 m2 large space offers excellent location for coffee breaks.
Upstairs is the plenary hall for 2 000 people on 1 900 square meters, surrounded by a 1 670 square meters lobby area. The hall can be divided into 2 to 3 parallel section rooms by mobile walls. The Gala Seating System is the special feature of this hall: with the revolving seats, the hall can be easily and time-efficiently converted from theatre style to auditorium style to a gala seating on a flat floor.
A really nice and unique feature: the 2 350 m2 roof terrace above the exhibition space, which is a great outdoor space for receptions, coffee breaks.
